Rectangular Ducts

Rectangular ducts, as the name suggests, are ducts with a rectangular cross-section, as opposed to round ducts which have a circular cross-section. These ducts are widely used in HVAC systems for distributing air in buildings. They're typically made of galvanized steel, aluminum, or other materials such as fiberglass or PVC.

Rectangular ducts offer some advantages over round ducts, including:
1. Space Efficiency: Rectangular ducts can be more space-efficient, especially when fitting into tight spaces or between walls.
2. Easier Installation: They are often easier to install, particularly in buildings with square or rectangular layouts.
3. Enhanced Airflow Control: The shape of rectangular ducts allows for better control of airflow direction and distribution compared to round ducts.
4. Cost-Effectiveness: Rectangular ducts may be more cost-effective to fabricate and install, especially for larger sizes.

However, they may also have some disadvantages, such as potentially higher pressure drop due to sharper corners and less efficient airflow compared to round ducts. The choice between round and rectangular ducts depends on factors such as space constraints, airflow requirements, installation considerations, and cost considerations.
